Health Related Assistance:

The Stow Community Chest responds to all requests for funding based on the funds available from the annual campaign. These groups provide health related assistance directly to clients on a confidential basis.

Concord Family & Youth Services

Community based services for young people and their families through residential treatment, special education, parenting education, adoption services, and homeless and transitional living programs for teens. The parenting program offers education, support groups, and special events geared for parents of children from birth through third year. This includes the First Connections program which sponsors parent education classes several times a year in Stow, and also works with the Stow Parents Network. Last year Concord Family and Youth Services served 34 Stow residents in a year long program.

Cooperative Elder Services, Inc.

Provides Adult Day Health and Alzheimer Day Care to frail elders at its Concord Center. Round trip transportation, nursing monitoring and supervision, therapeutic activities, respite to caregivers are among the many services provided. Last year 8 Stow residents benefited from the services provided by Cooperative Elder Services.

Eliot Community Human Services, Inc.

The Eliot Center Outpatient Clinic offers outpatient services to children, adolescents, adults, and elders in the areas of mental health, developmental disability, and substance abuse. These professional counseling services are available on a sliding fee scale. 20 Stow residents received services from Eliot last year.

Emerson Hospital

Emerson Hospital is a full service, non-profit, 170-bed community hospital serving Stow and surrounding communities. It provides advanced medical service to more than 220,000 individuals in 25 towns and serves approximately 1000 Stow residents every year.

Friday Night Fun Club

Since 1974 has provided social opportunities for special needs adults age 20 - 70. Programs include trips, dances, game nights and crafts. The group meets twice a month. SCC funds have helped sponsor special trips and activities.

Minute Man Arc for
Human Services, Inc.

Enhances the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities. These services include early intervention, family service, respite and resources. 76 Stow residents received services from Minute Man ARC last year.

Minuteman Senior Services

Minuteman Senior Services (formerly Minuteman Home Care) helps seniors and their caregivers find practical solutions that help elders remain independent and fit within family resources. Services are provided free or on a sliding fee basis, and include telephone advice and referrals, in-home services, caregiver support, memory disorder consultation, meals on wheels, money management assistance, health benefits counseling and more. Minuteman manages the Eating Together luncheon site at the First Parish Church in Stow, served two days each week at noon.

Pediatric Intervention Team Emerson Hospital

Addresses the unique needs of hospitalized children and their families, attempting to minimize anxiety and promote a positive hospital experience. Provides the following programs: Pre-admission, Family Consultation, Bereavement Workshops, Inpatient Psychiatric Evaluations, and the Lending Library. Last year the Pediatric Intervention Team provided services for 360 Stow children.

Stow Community Bloodmobile

Stow Community Bloodmobile has operated for 26 years and is 100% funded by the SCC. Staffed by volunteers, it runs 3 blood drives per year and averages about 100-110 pints per drive.

UMASS Memorial/Marlborough Hospital

A member of UMass Memorial Health Care, Marlborough Hospital has been providing Stow residents with high quality, compassionate health care for over 100 years. The hospital's programs of excellence include cardiology, orthopedics and emergency medicine, among others. A state-of-the-art Emergency Department is staffed by emergency medicine physicians from UMass Memorial Medical Center, providing rapid access to a nationally recognized academic medical center.

Wayside Hospice / Parmenter VNA and Community Care

Hospice is a unique health care style focusing on the person and not the disease. It provides support for individuals with terminal diagnosis.
